About This Rug
This piece is a block repeat pattern reminiscent of blocks for block printing or a carved stone screen. It is named after Blee’s grandparent’s home—a stone house built into a cliff face looking out to sea. The design was inspired by the time Blee spent there as a child surrounded by furniture and textiles of the fifties and sixties and the dramatic marriage of the architecture and the natural rock face. The scale can be moved from a large-scale repeat of 4 to a smaller scale repeat of 16.
