30 Years of Label STEP – Our Trusted Fair Trade Partner

The welfare of our weavers is as fundamental to us as the quality of our rugs. Our partnership with Label STEP has been central to upholding and even exceeding fair trade practices, ethical standards and full supply chain traceability.

Through every rug, we believe in helping to improve the lives of the people that created it.

The community of weavers at Kirkit, a model workshop in Turkey, set up by Ahmet Diler

WHY WE LOVE LABEL STEP:

- An independent NGO and non-profit, wholly dedicated to the wellbeing of weavers and workers across the handmade carpet industry

-  For every Christopher Farr rug, Label STEP independently audits each stage of the production process

-  The majority of their staff are embedded within local country offices, keeping them directly connected to the weaving communities they serve

-  Leading the industry, Label STEP upholds the broadest and strictest standards; encompassing universal human rights, the prohibition of child labour, safe working conditions, fair wages and eco-friendly production

⁃ Their work preserves centuries-old artisanal skills, helping weavers take genuine pride in their craft and recognise its cultural significance

⁃  Improved working conditions and fair benefits are drawing the next generation to the loom - keeping the handmade carpet industry sustainable well into the future

⁃  They allow Christopher Farr to make beautiful rugs and deliver to them to you

Christopher Farr is proud to be a certified Label STEP Fair Trade Partner.
