Biography

A Devon based weaver whose practice evolved from her past work in London art galleries, set design for opera houses and her training in Wimbledon and Guildhall. She is fascinated by how textiles are woven into our lives, from the moment we are born to what we clothe ourselves in everyday, much of which we take for granted. Developing her interest in weaving from examples in modern art tapestries and designs by artists such as Alexander Calder, Picasso and MirĂ³. Nancy acknowledges how humans are connected to textile; from providing shelter and warmth, weaving has provided protection and comfort for millennia. She still marvels at the versatility and flexible outputs of the loom; from robust woollen weaves to fine silk fabric.
