Born in San Francisco in 1937, Kaffe Fassett won a scholarship to the Museum of Fine Arts School in Boston but decided to go to London to paint instead, settling in England in 1964. He learntt to knit whilst traveling by train from a Scottish woolen mill.
He has published several books on knitting and needlepoint and had his own channel four television show ‘Glorious Colour’. He has also had a retrospective at the Victoria & Albert Museum.
He has used his unique sense of colour to design a series of rugs for Christopher Farr which bear his unmistakeable trademark.
